With Spring finally showing her face, it seems like time is been speeding up! I guess I've been feeling a touch of spring fever as I've done two tutorials this season, Spring Garden Gloves and Spring Tulips over on Painted Thoughts Blog. If you click on the names, you can access the tutorials.
Below, is a post on the blog about a wacky outing I went on with family. There are times when a humorous interpretation of an event is a much better portal back to a memory than a literal image of
the place you've visited.

Weird, Wonderful Florida!
|
My family spent this past Mother's Day at Gatorland here in Florida, an attraction that's been around since 1949. Even being in Walt Disney World's backyard and not having any rides or superheroes to speak of, the park has stayed open. I think it's the heavy emphasis on quirky that has
allowed it to remain viable and there's just something about seeing gators up-close and personal that can't be beat.
While many of the family members went zip lining, some of us stayed on the ground and sketched. As you can see from my sketchbook, I decided to have a little fun
with some of the "zippers." People, especially family members are hard to sketch. To avoid this pitfall, I decided to play and have fun by making a caricature out of the fearless zip-liner complete with a gator waiting patiently below!

Classes Starting Soon - Come And Join The Fun!
|
An Imaginary Visit to New Zealand - we'll go exploring all across the two islands and encounter everything from icebergs, kiwi, sperm whales and trolleys! In our sketchbooks, we'll be working with different page layouts as well as art materials for those times when we need to work fast or when we're just too tired to do a complete sketch after a long day. The trip starts on Tuesday, May 19th—hope to see you there!
An Imaginary Trip to Canada - ALL NEW! Three oceans, mountain ranges, old cities and new, to lush gardens and
lighthouses...sound like fun?! Come and join me as we venture from one ocean to the other. Working will value and contrast, we'll focus on how to distill down to what really speaks to us so that we can capture those places on our sketchbook pages. There will be emphasis on eliminating unnecessary details, shadows, and page design. I hope you'll join me when class starts on Thursday, June 4th.
Please click on the class titles for more info!
The new class schedule can be found here and as always, a visit to ImaginaryTrips.com will give you the scoop on all the classes!
