Something New At The Imaginary Realm!
, since I've started teaching a lot more "live" classes (rather than only online), I've heard from several of you...wishing you were closer to Florida so you could come for a class because you really liked the class materials. You've shared your dismay at not being able to come and join in the fun.

I heard you. And I've done something about it!

Drum roll, please...
Introducing, Painting A Fiery Sunset!
In response to those unable to attend a class, I have created "Painting A Fiery Sunset!" This Independent Learning  online class is available over at The Imaginary Realm. (This will be the subject for Keeton's class next Saturday!)

Independent Learning classes are self-paced and there is not interaction with me as the teacher. This class format is excellent for those artists with a demanding schedule or those who do not like to participate in an interactive class environment online.

The class is structured around learning to think through the process of painting a complex scene BEFORE you ever touch paint to paper. The video demonstration goes step-by-step from choosing a good watercolor paper for this project, to prepping the page and on to choosing pigments that lend themselves to capturing the glorious colors we see at sunset.

Once we begin painting, we'll use suggested details to create the look and feel of moving water as well as to suggest depth in the picture frame

When you sign up for the class, you'll have access to the materials for 365 days and you can watch the video as many times as you'd like within that year. There's also a downloadable materials list as well as instructions that are yours to keep forever.

While it's not quite the same as being in class, you can still enjoy learning the process of painting Fiery Sunsets

And maybe, if we're lucky enough, we might just get to meet up at one of several workshop opportunities that are coming up this year! See below for more info!
An Imaginary Trip Made Real To England!
There are still a few places left!!
Be still, my heart! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for this trip! This week-long workshop will be taking place in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace.

English gardens, cottages with thatched roofs, rolling meadows, cobblestone streets and small shops to wander around...doesn't that sound like fun?

We'll be there August 14th through the 20th and the days will be chocked full of small demos and discussions as we go through our day's activities. In addition to just being there, we'll be taking in a high tea as well as a boat ride on one of the many canals. We'll have an opportunity to visit Blenheim Palace, the birthplace and ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill. Just looking at some of the imagery from the area, I can tell you there's more than enough to fill a sketchbook or three.

I have partnered with The Blue Walk tour company for this adventure, and I believe we will be in the best of hands for our visit. The Blue Walk understands the value of walking around an area and pausing to sink into the ambiance of an area rather than rushing through and snapping a few pictures for later.

If you've gone on a tour with Jane LeFazio or Leslie Fehling, then you're familiar with the tour company. If you'd like to join in this fabulous adventure, please click here for more information!
Postcards In The Gardens!
This March, I will have the opportunity to teach a 2-day workshop at Selby Gardens! This place is beyond fabulous and the weather in March should be wonderful! The class will be a mixture of classroom time as well as garden time—we'll be taking our sketchbooks out into the garden and filling our pages! This class will take place March 9th and 10th. To learn more about the gardens and this workshop, please click here.

I will be back for another workshop on April 21st. This class will be less in the classroom and more out in the gardens. For more information on the April class, please click here

By The Way...if you belong to an art group or league and would like for me to come to your city to teach, I would LOVE to do that! I love to travel, but what I really love is to connect with the folks I've met online. So PLEASE pass my name and email address on to your Workshop Coordinator and let's get together!!

Interactive Classes at ImaginaryTrips.com
I am in the process of putting together the schedule now and hope to have something put together by the end of January soon! If there's somewhere in particular you'd like to go, let me know! I look forward to hearing from you.

As always, keep filling the page!
