It's Time For An Imaginary Trip To Jekyll Island, !
Published: Tue, 10/01/19
And just like that, it's October!
, can you believe it's October already and, finally, finally Autumn?! Though I most confess, we haven't seen much in the way of change. Here in the southern part of the United States, we don't really see much of Autumn until late November. But that's okay—I can pretend...and I do as you can see in the journal
page below!
This page started because I fell in love with a neighbor's pumpkin topiary and then decided to add my other favorite things about Fall. You'll note I do not mention sweaters but long sleeve shirts. It's still too hot for sweaters!
One of the (few) great things about Autumn showing up so late in the year in the south is that we can still go frolic on the beach and it's enjoyable. The humidity has dropped and the mosquitos are not quite so plentiful! If your October was already booked before you learned about the Jekyll Island (Georgia) live workshop and you cannot come, worry not! (There are still a couple of spots left!)
Registration Is Now Open!
With all the possibilities of the internet, there's no reason to miss out on the fun of Jekyll Island! This online class will come to you straight from the beautiful coastal island off Georgia's coast! Seven beaches, nature's own driftwood sculptures, "cottages" of America's founding families, old ruins and acres of natural habitat, this place gives us sooooo many wonderful options for sketching and filling the pages of our journals!
The class will include four unique visits starting on Thursday, October 31st. Assignments will post on each following Thursday and you'll have unlimited access to the videos once they're posted.
I'll be sharing my sketchbook from my adventures on the island as well as how I "finish" my pages to give them a little bit of polish. I will also be sharing photographs (and maybe a few videos if all works out well) of some of the island's beauty and how I capture it on the page.
I hope you'll join me for one last bit of splashing in the water before we get into serious fall weather!Class starts on Thursday, October 31st! Click HERE to read all about it!
It's always a little nerve-racking when we put a piece of ourselves out in the world we are particularly passionate about because one is never quite sure of the reception we'll receive, but I need not have worried—the warm and enthusiastic response to this workshop has been phenomenal and so very appreciated!
It seems the need and desire to reconnect with our creativity on fuller and deeper levels resonated with many of you.
There is somethingmuch to be said for immersing yourself into your art for ten days in a beautiful location in the southwest of France, for immersing yourself in a culture that celebrates "enoughness" (click here to
read a great article on enoughness!) and for giving yourself the chance to slow down and b-r-e-a-t-h-e.
I hope you will join me at Le Vieux Couvent in the Dordogne region of France next October to explore both France and more importantly, your creativity.
We'll explore our creativity and the area through our journals as we visit small villages, medieval towns, farmers' markets, brocantes, prehistoric cave art and so much more!
The gardens at LVC are wonderful to stroll through and simply admire, but I bet you'll soon find a small, quiet corner and to relax in. The buzzing of the bees and the warm sunshine might even convince you to take a nap!
Dining at LVC is an experience all in itself! From the picnic lunches to aperitifs to the four-course dinners filled with much laughter and story-telling will fill your heart and be long remembered after you return home.
The places you'll visit, the things you'll see and experience, the pages you'll fill in your journal, the food you'll taste...the whole experience is over-the-top fantastic. You will not want to come home after this workshop!
Come read all about the trip to see if it's the right thing for you and your creativity...
